When Mom said she wanted us to put Christmas decorations up today (‘us’ of course means ‘Dad’), Dad responded “I’m really fond of how the house looks now.”

I better understand why after helping him get the Christmas decor out of the attic.

This isn’t even all if it.

I think we have two boxes of xmas stuff, and a 3’ tree. I doubt we’ll put any of it out. I was thinking about drawing a tree on the chalkboard, though.

50 Homemade Gifts For Christmas

I’ve been on the lookout for gifts to make this christmas. I have some ideas, and some standby’s (handmade books, notecards, paintings, mix cd’s with nice artwork, etc) but am always on the lookout for more. So I read lists like this, and mostly cringe:

“Coupon book. This is an oldie, but still a great personalized gift. Depending on what the recipient enjoys you can customize the book. Include service things like breakfast in bed, a day of help, and a night off.”

I suppose this MIGHT be cute coming from a kid, but if I was a parent, I’d be kinda pissed. And if a spouse gave this to me, I’d be extra pissed. This is the kind of stuff you just DO for other people because you like them, shouldn’t need a coupon.

Also I never really got the breakfast in bed thing. I would likely make a mess.

“Sew something. Kids think it is so cool to have a matching outfit with a parent. Sew mother and daughter a matching outfit.”

I suppose they are talking about young kids here but HAHAHA. Do this for a 16 year old you dislike.

“Make a PowerPoint presentation that includes pictures and old memories.”

Powerpoint=evil. nuff said.

“Start a blog in honor of someone. Blogspot lets you start a free blog. Just call the blog – Best Dad Ever. Post a few entries and send the web address to the recipient.”

Nothing says love like an abandoned blog.

“Break a bad habit for someone. Throw out something someone hates. Use Christmas as a motivation to finally kick a habit for someone.”

While this is a nice idea, throwing out someone’s cigarettes does not count as a Christmas gift.

I realize this isn’t the list for me, but sheesh.
